Each day I hear how extreme the weather conditions are across the U.S.  Flooding rain and sub-freezing temperatures are plaguing many!  And while Corpus has had its fair share of rain and gloom, lately we have had some warmer temps with brief visits from the sun.  During these dreary months, I have made time to focus on the business of doing business.  I’ve been getting some of the less fun pieces (accounting, web updates, etc.) out of the way and gearing up for a fantastic 2010!  I am getting the ‘fever’!  I am looking forward to a busy spring of photography.  This week, I had to get outdoors and reconnect with family and nature.  We found Padre Island both beautiful and eventful even in mid January.

Over the past months, I have had the great pleasure and honor to photograph students, faculty, and everyday greatness at Annapolis Christian Academy.  Some of my contributions are now on the school’s new website, wonderfully designed by Susan Chilcoat of Chilcoat Studios, and in other marketing efforts.  The students, faculty, and families of ACA are simply amazing!  Their love and excellence always seems to shine, which of course made for rewarding photo ops!  Overall, the experience was a true blessing.

Loving Corpus Christi

For those of you who have known me for a while, you know I was anxious to move back to the U.S after spending several years in Europe.  Since moving to Corpus Christi this past summer of 2009, we’ve never been happier!  I love the many kind people of this city.  I love the beautiful beaches, especially the less populated shores of Padre Island.  I love the sunsets.  I love the small town feel minus the boredom accompanying most ‘small towns’.  Then, there’s something else I suppose is unique to the coastal bend and to a newbie, it’s a concept too deep for me to accurately describe.  It’s a little like how the coastal seawater  streams into the ranch laden countryside.  It’s how teens both love surfing and horseback riding.  It’s how his King Ranch truck is as functional as it is a status symbol.  It’s how big shiny belt buckles are a welcomed accessory to pants from Benjamin’s.  It’s how my boots or flip-flops are ok anytime and anywhere.  It is how locals take heart living in the most important namesake, ’the body of Christ’.  I guess I could go on and on, but I’ll stop with saying, “I think Corpus Christi is a well-kept secret!”  We are here to stay as long as God wills.
